Chapter Nexus LLC ("Chapter Nexus," "Company," "we," "us," or "our") respects the privacy of the individuals and organizations that use our services.

This Privacy Policy describes how Chapter Nexus collects, uses, processes, retains, and discloses personal information in connection with the Chapter Nexus website located at https://www.chapternexus.com, the Chapter Nexus platform, public recruitment forms, and related services, features, applications, and communications (collectively, the "Service").

This Privacy Policy also explains the relationship between Chapter Nexus and participating fraternity chapters, sorority chapters, student organizations, clubs, associations, and similar organizations that use the Service.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully.

By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Scope of This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed by Chapter Nexus in connection with the Service.

It applies to information concerning, among others:

• registered Chapter Nexus users;
• members of participating organizations, including members who do not have Chapter Nexus accounts;
• chapter officers and administrators;
• recruitment prospects;
• individuals who submit public recruitment forms;
• advisors and other authorized organizational users;
• external contacts entered into organizational resources; and
• individuals identified or discussed in messages, minutes, notes, documents, tasks, recruitment records, or other content submitted through the Service.

This Privacy Policy does not govern the independent privacy practices of participating chapters, colleges, universities, national organizations, third-party websites, or other entities that are not controlled by Chapter Nexus.

2. Our Relationship With Participating Chapters

Chapter Nexus provides software that organizations use to administer their internal operations.

Because the Service contains both information controlled by participating chapters and information independently processed by Chapter Nexus, responsibility for personal information depends on the context in which the information is processed.

2.1 Chapter-Controlled Information

Participating chapters generally determine the purposes for which they collect and use information concerning:

• chapter members;
• recruitment prospects;
• officers;
• attendance;
• organizational meetings;
• communications;
• recruitment evaluations;
• financial operations;
• projects and tasks;
• chapter documents;
• service and philanthropy participation;
• leadership transitions; and
• other chapter operations.

As between Chapter Nexus and the participating chapter, the chapter generally controls this information and instructs Chapter Nexus to process it through the Service.

Chapter Nexus processes such information for purposes including hosting, organizing, displaying, securing, transmitting, backing up, and otherwise providing the functionality requested by the chapter.

2.2 Chapter Nexus-Controlled Information

Chapter Nexus separately determines how certain information is processed for purposes related to operation of the Service, including:

• account administration;
• authentication;
• security;
• fraud and abuse prevention;
• technical operations;
• platform administration;
• customer support;
• legal compliance; and
• service reliability and improvement.

2.3 Requests Concerning Chapter-Controlled Information

If your request relates primarily to information maintained by a participating chapter, such as membership information, recruitment notes, chapter minutes, attendance records, or other organizational records, we may direct you to the applicable chapter administrator.

We may assist the chapter with such requests where appropriate and technically feasible.

3. Personal Information We Collect

The information Chapter Nexus processes depends on how you interact with the Service and what information a participating chapter chooses to maintain.

The categories below describe the principal types of information currently processed by Chapter Nexus.

4. Account and Identity Information

When an account is created or administered, Chapter Nexus may process information including:

• username;
• first name;
• last name;
• display name;
• email address;
• telephone number;
• chapter affiliation;
• member or roll number, when provided;
• academic major;
• anticipated graduation term or year;
• signup invitation information;
• account status; and
• information relating to account activation.

Passwords are processed using password-hashing technology and are not intended to be stored as readable plaintext passwords.

5. Membership, Role, and Authorization Information

Participating chapters may maintain information concerning organizational membership and access, including:

• member name;
• email address;
• phone number;
• member or roll number;
• major;
• graduation term or year;
• chapter membership;
• organizational role;
• module permissions;
• permission overrides;
• officer positions;
• officer assignment history;
• team membership;
• leadership assignments; and
• whether an account is active or enabled.

This information may be provided by the individual, an authorized chapter administrator, or another authorized user.

6. Recruitment Information

The Service provides tools that participating organizations may use to collect and manage recruitment information.

6.1 Public Recruitment Submissions

A person submitting a public recruitment form may provide information including:

• first name;
• last name;
• email address;
• phone number;
• year in college;
• major;
• hometown;
• social-media handle;
• consent or acknowledgment associated with the submission; and
• other information requested on the applicable recruitment form.

The Service may also process:

• submission time;
• a randomly generated request identifier; and
• a hashed representation of the submitting internet protocol address for abuse-prevention purposes.

The information submitted through a chapter-specific recruitment form is provided to the participating chapter associated with that form.

6.2 Recruitment Records Added by Chapters

Authorized chapter users may add additional recruitment information, including:

• recruitment status;
• rating;
• class designation;
• referral source;
• assigned chapter contact;
• last-contacted date;
• contact history;
• notes;
• tags;
• recommendations;
• endorsements;
• comments; and
• archive status.

Some of this information may represent subjective assessments made by members of the participating organization.

Chapter Nexus does not independently create or verify those assessments.

7. Chapter Content

Users may create, upload, store, or otherwise process organizational information through the Service.

Depending on the modules used by a participating chapter, this may include:

• meeting minutes;
• officer reports;
• attendance records;
• unfinished business;
• new business;
• motions or decisions;
• action items;
• meeting summaries; and
• recorder or author information.

7.2 Tasks and Projects

• titles;
• descriptions;
• assignments;
• responsible users or teams;
• priorities;
• status;
• due dates;
• completion records; and
• task comments.

7.3 Calendar and Events

• event titles;
• descriptions;
• event locations;
• dates;
• times;
• attendance; and
• other scheduling information.

7.4 Messages and Communications

• messages;
• conversation participants;
• reactions;
• comments; and
• communication timestamps.

7.5 Documents

• uploaded files;
• document contents;
• filenames;
• file types;
• file sizes;
• folders;
• previews;
• uploader information;
• creation or modification timestamps; and
• certain document access or modification activity.

7.6 Leadership and Organizational Structure

• teams;
• officer positions;
• responsibilities;
• position assignments;
• historical position holders;
• organizational relationships; and
• role information.

7.7 Chapter Blueprint and Leadership Continuity

Chapter Nexus may process information intended to preserve organizational knowledge and facilitate officer transitions, including:

• responsibilities;
• instructions;
• notes;
• resources;
• URLs;
• external contacts;
• contact names and email addresses;
• successor notes;
• handoff materials;
• transition questions and answers;
• acknowledgments;
• attestations;
• decisions; and
• other institutional knowledge.

7.8 Service and Philanthropy Information

The Service may process information including:

• service events;
• participating organizations;
• event locations;
• participant names;
• volunteer hours;
• money raised;
• proof or supporting URLs; and
• related organizational records.

7.9 Financial Information

The Service may process organizational financial information including:

• financial years;
• dues assumptions;
• expected revenue;
• budgets;
• budget allocations;
• allocation owners;
• expected costs;
• transaction descriptions;
• transaction dates;
• transaction amounts; and
• related financial planning information.

Chapter Nexus is not currently designed to store complete payment-card numbers, online banking credentials, or similar financial authentication credentials.

8. Free-Text and User-Supplied Information

Many areas of the Service allow users to enter free-text information or upload documents.

As a result, users may voluntarily enter personal information that Chapter Nexus cannot fully predict from predefined database fields.

For example, personal information may appear in:

• messages;
• meeting minutes;
• notes;
• comments;
• recruitment evaluations;
• documents;
• task descriptions;
• project descriptions;
• transition records;
• resource descriptions; or
• other organizational records.

Participating organizations and their users are responsible for exercising appropriate judgment when entering information into these fields.

9. Information Collected Automatically

When individuals use or attempt to access the Service, Chapter Nexus may automatically process certain technical or operational information.

This may include:

• internet protocol address;
• attempted username during authentication;
• login or signup action;
• login or signup attempt time;
• last successful login time;
• session identifiers;
• security tokens;
• record creation and modification timestamps;
• activity records;
• notification records;
• security and access events;
• document audit information;
• application errors; and
• information reasonably necessary to diagnose technical problems or prevent abuse.

The infrastructure providers used to operate Chapter Nexus may also process technical information such as request logs, internet protocol addresses, browser or user-agent information, network information, timestamps, and error records as part of providing their services.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Chapter Nexus currently uses cookies and similar technologies primarily for authentication, security, and operation of the Service.

10.1 Session Cookies

Session cookies help maintain an authenticated browser session and enable users to remain signed in while using the Service.

10.2 Session Expiration

Authenticated sessions expire after thirty (30) minutes of inactivity and no later than twelve (12) hours after sign-in. Chapter Nexus does not use persistent remember-me authentication cookies.

10.3 Security and CSRF Cookies

Chapter Nexus uses security tokens, including CSRF-related cookies or tokens, to help protect authenticated requests against unauthorized or forged submissions.

10.4 Cloudflare Turnstile

Chapter Nexus uses Cloudflare Turnstile on certain public forms to help distinguish legitimate users from automated or abusive traffic.

Turnstile may process browser, request, and behavioral signals required to provide its security function.

Chapter Nexus does not use Turnstile to obtain the contents of recruitment-form responses for advertising purposes.

10.5 Advertising and Analytics Cookies

Chapter Nexus does not currently use third-party advertising networks or third-party behavioral advertising cookies.

Chapter Nexus also does not currently use Google Analytics or another third-party product-analytics platform in the Service.

If our practices materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy as appropriate.

11. How We Obtain Personal Information

11.1 You

Information you provide directly when you:

• create an account;
• accept an invitation;
• update your profile;
• submit a recruitment form;
• request early access to Chapter Nexus, including your name, school, organization, role, email address, and any optional message you provide;
• communicate through the Service;
• upload documents;
• create records;
• contact support; or
• otherwise interact with Chapter Nexus.

11.2 Participating Chapters

Chapter administrators or other authorized users may enter information concerning:

• members;
• officers;
• recruitment prospects;
• advisors;
• external contacts; and
• other individuals associated with chapter activities.

11.3 Other Authorized Users

Information about you may appear in records created by other authorized users, including messages, minutes, attendance records, tasks, recruitment notes, comments, documents, or transition materials.

11.4 Service Providers and Technical Systems

We may receive technical or security information from infrastructure providers and security services used to operate the Service.

12. How We Use Personal Information

12.1 Providing the Service

To:

• create and maintain accounts;
• maintain organization workspaces;
• display organizational information;
• provide chapter modules and functionality;
• process uploads and documents;
• support organizational workflows; and
• provide requested functionality.

12.2 Authentication and Access Control

To:

• authenticate users;
• maintain sessions;
• determine chapter membership;
• apply roles and permissions;
• restrict access to authorized users; and
• protect organization-specific information.

12.3 Chapter Administration

To enable participating organizations to:

• maintain member rosters;
• assign positions;
• administer teams;
• manage responsibilities;
• organize documents;
• maintain chapter records; and
• otherwise conduct organizational operations.

12.4 Recruitment

To:

• receive public recruitment submissions;
• route submissions to the appropriate chapter;
• maintain prospect records;
• manage chapter recruitment workflows; and
• help prevent duplicate, automated, or abusive submissions.

12.5 Meetings, Tasks, Projects, and Calendars

To provide chapter governance, work-management, scheduling, and collaboration functionality.

12.6 Communications

To enable messages, comments, notifications, and other collaboration among authorized users.

12.7 Leadership Transition and Institutional Continuity

To preserve organizational knowledge, document officer responsibilities, support transitions, and maintain historical organizational records.

12.8 Financial Administration

To provide budgeting, allocation, planning, transaction-record, and related organizational financial-management functionality.

12.9 Service and Philanthropy Administration

To track service events, participation, volunteer hours, amounts raised, and related chapter information.

12.10 Import and Export

To enable authorized users to import information into the Service and export certain organizational records.

12.11 Security and Abuse Prevention

To:

• detect unauthorized access;
• authenticate users;
• enforce permissions;
• prevent automated abuse;
• investigate suspicious activity;
• throttle inappropriate requests;
• protect accounts; and
• preserve system integrity.

12.12 Support and Troubleshooting

To diagnose application issues, respond to support requests, process document problems, and maintain the functionality and reliability of the Service.

12.13 Early-Access Requests

To respond to early-access inquiries, evaluate beta fit, and communicate with the person who submitted the request about Chapter Nexus. We do not sell early-access inquiry information or use it for third-party behavioral advertising.

12.14 Legal and Compliance Purposes

To:

• comply with applicable law;
• respond to lawful requests;
• enforce our agreements;
• investigate suspected unlawful conduct;
• protect legal rights; and
• establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

12.15 Service Improvement

We may use operational information to understand how the Service functions, diagnose reliability issues, improve workflows, and develop or improve features.

Where reasonably practicable, we may use aggregated or de-identified information for these purposes.

13. How Personal Information Is Disclosed

13.1 Participating Chapters

Information entered into a participating chapter's Organization Account may be made available to authorized users of that chapter according to their roles, permissions, module access, and other access controls.

13.2 Chapter Administrators

Chapter administrators may have broader access to organizational information for purposes such as account administration, membership management, access control, data export, and chapter operations.

13.3 Authorized Module Users

Information within particular areas of the Service may be available only to users with permission to access the applicable module or function.

13.4 Conversation Participants

Private messages or conversations may be accessible to the users included in the applicable conversation, subject to system administration and legal or security requirements.

13.5 Recruitment Users

Recruitment information may be accessible to authorized users who have permission to access the participating chapter's recruitment functionality.

13.6 Chapter Nexus Personnel

Authorized Chapter Nexus personnel or contractors may access information where reasonably necessary to:

• operate the Service;
• maintain infrastructure;
• troubleshoot issues;
• provide support;
• investigate security concerns;
• comply with legal obligations; or
• perform other legitimate service-administration functions.

Access should be limited to individuals with a legitimate operational need.

13.7 Service Providers

We disclose information to vendors that process information on our behalf or assist us in operating the Service.

Current principal service providers include those described in Section 14.

13.8 Legal and Safety Disclosures

We may disclose information if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:

• comply with applicable law;
• comply with valid legal process;
• respond to lawful governmental requests;
• protect the rights or property of Chapter Nexus;
• protect the security or integrity of the Service;
• prevent fraud or abuse;
• protect the rights or safety of another person; or
• establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

13.9 Corporate Transactions

Information may be disclosed or transferred as part of a proposed or completed:

• merger;
• acquisition;
• financing;
• reorganization;
• bankruptcy;
• sale of company assets; or
• similar corporate transaction.

Where required by law, we will provide appropriate notice concerning material changes to the treatment of personal information.

13.10 Customer-Directed Disclosure

We may disclose or transmit information where an authorized Customer instructs us to do so, including through exports or future integrations.

14. Service Providers

Chapter Nexus currently relies on third parties to provide certain infrastructure and security services.

14.1 Render

Render is used for functions including:

• hosting the Chapter Nexus application;
• running application services;
• supporting persistent application storage;
• storing uploaded documents and generated previews where configured; and
• supporting infrastructure and application operations.

Render may process technical or infrastructure information in connection with providing these services.

14.2 Supabase

Supabase provides managed PostgreSQL infrastructure used by Chapter Nexus.

The database may contain information including:

• account records;
• member information;
• roles and permissions;
• chapter records;
• recruitment information;
• messages;
• financial information;
• service information; and
• other structured application data.

14.3 Cloudflare

Chapter Nexus uses Cloudflare Turnstile to protect certain public forms from automated or abusive submissions.

Cloudflare may process browser and request signals necessary to provide this security service.

14.4 Document Processing

Chapter Nexus currently uses document-processing software within the application environment, including software capable of reading supported documents and generating previews.

The current implementation does not rely on a separate cloud document-conversion provider to which Chapter Nexus intentionally sends documents solely for conversion.

14.5 Changes to Providers

We may replace, add, or remove service providers as the Service evolves.

When a change materially affects our privacy practices, we will update this Privacy Policy or otherwise provide notice as appropriate.

15. Organizational Visibility and Data Exports

Chapter Nexus is a multi-organization service.

Information is generally scoped to the applicable participating chapter.

Access within a chapter depends on factors including:

• chapter membership;
• account status;
• assigned role;
• officer position;
• module permissions;
• permission overrides; and
• conversation membership.

Authorized chapter users may have the ability to export certain categories of information.

Current export functionality may include:

• chapter rosters;
• positions;
• tasks;
• projects;
• financial records; and
• recruitment records.

Once information has been exported, downloaded, copied, or otherwise removed from Chapter Nexus by an authorized user, the participating organization and recipient are responsible for protecting the resulting copies.

Chapter Nexus cannot control independent use or redistribution of information after an authorized user downloads or exports it from the Service.

16. Sale of Personal Information and Advertising

16.1 No Sale of Personal Information

Chapter Nexus does not sell personal information.

16.2 No Targeted Advertising

Chapter Nexus does not disclose personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or use Customer Content for targeted advertising.

16.3 No Third-Party Advertising Networks

Chapter Nexus does not currently integrate third-party advertising networks into the Service.

16.4 Service Providers

Our use of hosting, infrastructure, security, and other service providers to operate the Service is not intended to constitute a sale of personal information.

17. Artificial Intelligence

Chapter Nexus does not currently send Customer Content to an external artificial-intelligence provider as part of an active production AI feature.

Chapter Nexus does not use Customer Content to train general-purpose artificial-intelligence models for Chapter Nexus's independent use or for a third party's independent use.

If Chapter Nexus later introduces a feature that uses a third-party AI provider to process Customer Content, we will provide appropriate disclosure and update this Privacy Policy or applicable product terms before materially implementing that processing.

18. Payment Information

Chapter Nexus does not currently operate an integrated online subscription-billing system or payment processor within the Service.

Accordingly, this Privacy Policy does not presently describe active processing of payment-card information by a Chapter Nexus payment processor.

If online billing is introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe the applicable payment provider and relevant billing-data practices before or in connection with deployment of that functionality.

19. Information We Ask Users Not to Provide

Chapter Nexus is not designed to serve as a repository for unnecessary highly sensitive information.

Unless a specific feature expressly requests such information and Chapter Nexus has authorized that use, users should not upload or store:

• Social Security numbers;
• passport numbers;
• driver's-license numbers;
• copies of government-issued identification;
• third-party account passwords;
• online banking credentials;
• complete payment-card numbers;
• payment-card security codes;
• private cryptographic keys;
• unnecessary medical records;
• biometric identifiers intended to uniquely identify a person; or
• other highly sensitive information not necessary for ordinary chapter administration.

If such information is submitted, we may remove or restrict access to it where reasonably appropriate.

20. Data Retention

We retain information for different periods depending on the type of information, why it is needed, chapter instructions, technical requirements, legal obligations, and legitimate business needs.

20.1 Active Organization Accounts

Chapter content generally remains available while the participating organization maintains an active account unless an authorized user deletes the applicable record or a different retention rule applies.

20.2 Organizational Records Created by Former Users

When a member, officer, or administrator leaves an organization, graduates, changes office, or loses access to the Service, organizational records they previously created may remain part of the participating chapter's records.

For example, we do not automatically remove valid meeting minutes, project records, transition materials, or other organizational records solely because the individual who created them no longer has an account.

20.3 Recruitment Information

Participating chapters may archive or delete recruitment records.

Chapter Nexus's intended standard for inactive recruitment-prospect information is generally to avoid retaining such information indefinitely where no continuing organizational, legal, or operational purpose exists.

Our target retention period for inactive recruitment-prospect information is approximately twenty-four (24) months after the last relevant activity, subject to:

• chapter instructions;
• implementation of applicable retention controls;
• legal requirements;
• security requirements; and
• legitimate organizational recordkeeping needs.

20.4 Authentication Information

Certain authentication and security information may be retained for comparatively short periods where it is needed to prevent abuse, investigate suspicious activity, or operate security controls.

Authenticated sessions expire after thirty (30) minutes of inactivity and no later than twelve (12) hours after sign-in. Persistent remember-me authentication is not used.

Signup invitations generally expire after approximately twenty-four (24) hours, although expiration of an invitation does not necessarily mean the underlying database record is immediately erased.

20.5 Archived Records

Archiving a record generally means that the record is hidden or moved out of an active workflow.

Archiving does not necessarily mean deletion.

20.6 Deleted Documents

When an authorized user deletes a document through supported functionality, the active document and associated generated previews may be removed from active application storage.

Residual copies may remain temporarily in backups, infrastructure systems, logs, or disaster-recovery systems until those systems are overwritten or expire in the ordinary course.

20.7 Closed Organization Accounts

When an Organization Account is closed, Chapter Nexus may maintain the organization's information for a reasonable transition period to support export, account closure, dispute resolution, security, and other legitimate purposes.

Our intended standard transition period is generally sixty (60) to ninety (90) days, although the actual period may depend on the circumstances, contractual terms, technical capabilities, legal requirements, and the reason for termination.

Following applicable transition and retention periods, information may be deleted, anonymized, or rendered inaccessible from active systems.

20.8 Backups and Infrastructure Records

Deletion from an active system does not necessarily result in immediate deletion from every backup, log, disaster-recovery copy, or restricted technical system.

Residual copies may remain until overwritten, rotated, or deleted according to the ordinary retention practices of Chapter Nexus and its service providers.

20.9 Legal Holds and Other Required Retention

We may retain information longer where reasonably necessary to:

• comply with law;
• respond to legal process;
• investigate fraud;
• maintain security;
• enforce agreements;
• resolve disputes;
• preserve evidence; or
• establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

21. Data Security

Chapter Nexus uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction.

Depending on the applicable system, these measures currently include practices such as:

• password hashing;
• authentication controls;
• session security;
• CSRF protection;
• chapter-based data scoping;
• role- and module-based access controls;
• production database access restrictions;
• PostgreSQL Row Level Security;
• encrypted database connections using TLS;
• file-type and upload-size validation;
• document-related audit events;
• login and signup throttling capabilities; and
• environment-based management of certain application secrets.

However, no internet-connected service, database, network, or storage environment can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Accordingly, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never defeat our safeguards or improperly access information.

Users are responsible for protecting their credentials and for promptly notifying Chapter Nexus if they suspect unauthorized account access.

22. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights concerning certain personal information.

These rights may include the right to request:

• confirmation of whether we process personal information about you;
• access to personal information;
• correction of inaccurate personal information;
• deletion of certain personal information;
• a portable copy of certain information;
• information concerning categories of information collected or disclosed;
• restriction of certain processing;
• withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent; or
• other rights provided by applicable law.

Not every right applies in every circumstance.

Certain exceptions may apply where information must be retained for legal, security, organizational-recordkeeping, contractual, or other permitted purposes.

23. How to Submit a Privacy Request

Privacy requests may be submitted to:

Please provide enough information for us to understand the request and reasonably identify the information involved.

We may verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

Verification may include:

• confirming control of the email address associated with an account;
• requiring authentication through the Service;
• requesting information reasonably necessary to match the requester with our records; or
• confirming information through an authorized chapter administrator when the request concerns chapter-controlled records.

We will not request unnecessary sensitive information solely for verification.

We will respond within the period required by applicable law.

24. Requests Involving Chapter-Controlled Information

If a privacy request concerns information controlled primarily by a participating chapter, we may:

• direct the requester to the applicable chapter administrator;
• forward the request to the participating chapter where appropriate;
• request instructions from the participating chapter; or
• assist the participating chapter in responding where reasonably feasible.

For example, requests concerning:

• chapter membership;
• recruitment evaluations;
• attendance;
• internal chapter messages;
• meeting minutes;
• officer history; or
• other organizational records

may need to be addressed by the chapter that created or controls those records.

25. Appeals

Where applicable law provides a right to appeal the denial of a privacy request, you may request reconsideration by replying to the decision or contacting:

Please identify the request being appealed and explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered.

We will process legally required appeals in accordance with applicable law.

26. Authorized Agents

Where applicable law allows you to use an authorized agent to submit a privacy request, we may require reasonable evidence that:

• the agent is authorized to act on your behalf; and
• your identity has been appropriately verified.

We may deny an agent request if we cannot reasonably verify the agent's authority, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

27. Children and Minors

27.1 Full Chapter Nexus Accounts

Full Chapter Nexus accounts are intended for individuals who are at least eighteen (18) years old.

27.2 Recruitment Prospects

Certain recruitment forms may permit individuals who are at least sixteen (16) years old to submit information without creating a full Chapter Nexus account.

Participating organizations are responsible for complying with laws and policies applicable to their recruitment activities.

27.3 Children Under Thirteen

The Service is not directed to children under thirteen (13).

Chapter Nexus does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under thirteen through use of the Service.

If we obtain actual knowledge that personal information has been collected from a child under thirteen in circumstances requiring removal or parental authorization under applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to address the information.

28. Educational Information and FERPA

Chapter Nexus may contain information relating to students, such as:

• academic major;
• expected graduation date;
• chapter attendance;
• organizational participation; or
• other information entered by users.

The presence of student-related information does not itself mean Chapter Nexus is acting as a school official or maintaining official university education records.

Unless Chapter Nexus enters into a separate written agreement with an educational institution, the Service is not currently intended to receive official education records from a college or university under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ("FERPA") school-official exception.

Participating organizations should not instruct a college or university to disclose official education records directly to Chapter Nexus unless appropriate contractual arrangements have been established.

Chapter Nexus does not represent that it is "FERPA certified."

29. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers allow users to send a "Do Not Track" ("DNT") signal.

There is no universally accepted technical standard governing all responses to DNT signals.

Chapter Nexus does not use third-party advertising networks or engage in cross-site behavioral advertising, so a DNT signal does not currently cause Chapter Nexus to provide a materially different advertising experience.

Where applicable law requires recognition of a legally valid browser-based opt-out preference signal, including an applicable Global Privacy Control signal, Chapter Nexus will process that signal as required by law.

Because Chapter Nexus does not currently sell personal information or use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there may be no applicable sale or advertising activity from which to opt out.

30. Precise Location, Camera, Microphone, and Contacts

Chapter Nexus does not currently use the Service to automatically collect:

• precise device geolocation;
• camera recordings;
• microphone recordings; or
• device contact lists.

Users may voluntarily enter locations, hometowns, addresses, contact names, or similar information into chapter records where the Service provides fields for such information.

31. Processing in the United States

Chapter Nexus is presently intended for users and participating organizations located in the United States.

Chapter Nexus and its service providers may process information in the United States and in other locations where applicable infrastructure providers lawfully operate their services.

If you access Chapter Nexus from outside the United States, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Chapter Nexus is not presently marketed as a service designed to satisfy privacy-law requirements applicable to organizations operating exclusively outside the United States.

32. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain:

• hyperlinks;
• external resources;
• third-party websites;
• embedded services; or
• customer-directed integrations.

Chapter Nexus does not control the privacy practices of independent third parties.

If you access an independent third-party service, that third party's privacy policy and terms govern its independent processing of your information.

Users should review those policies before providing personal information to third-party services.

33. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as:

• the Service evolves;
• our technology changes;
• vendors change;
• new features are introduced;
• applicable laws change; or
• our privacy practices otherwise change.

When we make material changes, we may provide notice by:

• updating the "Last Updated" date;
• sending an email;
• displaying an in-product notification;
• requesting acknowledgment or acceptance where appropriate; or
